Importance of Drip Irrigation System

Some of the Importance of Drip Irrigation are as follows. So let us check out some points on its importance to know about drip Irrigation.

Points of Importance of Drip Irrigation are:

Water flow in the form of irrigation water and rain water play important role in the introducing propagules and also dormant structures of pathogens either in soil or plant debris, into new, healthy fields/crop

The use of surface drip irrigation, installed after cultivation and sidedressing, has markedly increased because water use efficiency and productivity are improved.

The correct modeling of this type of soil-water movement is important to the prediction of groundwater recharge; the evaporation rate; runoff, erosion, and flood production; the availability of water for plant uptake; and chemical changes such as salinization.

Drip irrigation was found to be superior to sprinkler and furrow irrigation in saving water and reducing the incidence of disease.

Other advantages of drip irrigation include limited energy consumption (owing to low-wattage pumps), avoidance of salt accumulations on leaves, and improved efficiency of nutrient uptake (and thereby reduced fertilizer costs and nitrate contamination of groundwater).

The use of drip and surface irrigation (instead of spray irrigation), which reduces the contact between the water and the edible parts of the plants, reduces the chances of contamination of the produce by irrigation water.

The amounts of irrigation water needed are less than with the traditional methods, as losses through seepage and evaporation are reduced.

With drip irrigation small volumes of water are being applied more frequently, which can reduce water stress and excessive percolation.
